We are fortunate to be close to France's largest lake and as well as water-sports there is a 30km trail for either walkers or cyclists around the perimiter. You don't even have to do it all in one go as there are free taxi-boats that break it into about 10km sections and will return you to your start point even with a bike
We are not golfers but the general opinion is that there are two good 18 hole courses, one good 9 hole and one not so good 9 hole course within easy driving of here. Its very simple to get a fishing license, 1 day, 1 week etc and there are plenty of rivers and lakes open to the public.
Walking and cycling trails are everywhere and there are good equestrian centres all around. So, if you have plenty of excess energy there is plenty to keep you occupied.

In winter there are always the Bistrot d'Hiver a lunch time and afternoon event with food and live music. The music ranges from French Accordian to Folk, Irish and a bit of Rock and Roll.

Obviously cycling and walking is available all year round as is relaxing beside a warm log fire with a glass of wine and a good book.
