We are fortunate to be close to France's largest lake and as well as water-sports there is a 30km trail for either walkers or cyclists around the perimiter. You don't even have to do it all in one go as there are free taxi-boats that break it into about 10km sections and will return you to your start point even with a bike
Of course there are chateaux, villages, churches and museums but really we feel that this area is perfect for exploring and there is plenty to see off the normal tourist routes
