Chambres d’Hôtes & Gites
France is one of the best countries in which to cycle and the rural department of the Creuse is no exception to that rule. There is a vast choice of routes catering for everyone; the family who want a safe pleasurable ride together, the keen cyclist looking for a good day in the saddle or the semi-professional who wants to get the kilometres under his belt.
For the road cyclist, the back-roads around Chez Jallot and its neighbouring communities are quiet and can offer a fantastic ride that interlinks picturesque villages and hamlets and passes through beautiful countryside with spectacular scenery.
For the mountain bike enthusiast, the surrounding hills and forests offer no end of winding tracks. As well as official-marked and maintained routes of all grades, there are also kilometres of unmarked track to explore. There is everything from flat and rolling trails to those more winding and technical to challenge even the best of riders… there is even a downhill track to attempt!
There are even a few challenges for the road enthusiast; for example, why not try your hand at the 24km road circuit around Lake Vassiviere, just south of Chez Jallot, which was used as part of the time-trial routes in three Tour de France (1985, 1990 & 1995) and which was also a popular training circuit for the famous French cyclist, Raymond Poulidor. If not, you can always hire electric bikes for and easier cycle around the lake which is an exceptionally pleasant ride as well.
At Chez Jallot, I have secure storage for your bike and should you want to maintain your bike whilst you are staying here, I also have a fully-equipped bike workshop that you are free to use. I can also point you in the direction of several well-stocked and helpful bike shops in the area should you need anything.
If you do not wish for the hassle of bringing your own bikes, I am more than happy to help you arrange bike rentals during your stay.
Cycling here in the Creuse is never a dull ride!
