The "circuit of legends" is a 23.5 km circuit around the lake, and which formed a large part of the course that was used in the time trails for the Tour de France in 1985, 1990 and 1995. The great men of cycling who rode on these roads around Lake Vassivière wished that this circuit pay tribute to one of the greatest Tour de France champions, Raymond Poulidor, who came from this area and used these roads for his training.
