Road Cycling

La Creuse is blessed with stunning, unspoiled natural landscapes.  Cyclists can traverse rolling hills, dense forests and picturesque valleys.  The varied terrain offers cycling routes for riders of all skill levels, from leisurely rides to challenging ascents.  La Creuse has one of the lowest population densities in France.  With fewer residenst, there are fewer vehicles on the road, resulting in less traffic and quieter roadways.  Much of La Creuse is characterized by picturesque, rural landcapes.  This means that there are vast areas of countryside and relatively few towns or cities.  The absence of urban sprawl contributes to the peacefulness of the roads.

Cycling Guest Review

"When you dream of perfect roads, world class hospitality and the a house with a story your dream may well be of Chez Jallot. Tucked away in the quietest corner of La Creuse it really is a little slice of paradise. I traveled with friends to enjoy a little cycling around the beautiful Lac du Vavissiere. I have never cycled anywhere with so little traffic, not only are the roads quiet but they are immaculate without a pothole to be found. Our hosts planned and led our rides, Anthony on the bike whilst Heidi was always on hand in the support van with encouragement, snacks and, if required a lift back for those who found the going a little too hard.
Having spent the day supporting miraculously Heidi would produce the most amazing and sustaining dinners for us to enjoy as we relived the highlights of our day. With full bellies we’d  retire to the beautifully furnished bedrooms to an almost guaranteed good night’s sleep.
So much did I enjoy my week I joked that I’d be back soon, far sooner than expected as three weeks later I grabbed a spur of the moment cheap flight to Limoges to enjoy a peaceful long weekend with my wife."

"Arriving at Chez Jallot with your bike feels like falling off a log, it's so easy.  Anthony was on hand to help us put our bikes back together and we headed out on our first little spin later that day. The roads were quiet and smooth and the climb out of Vidaillat was shaded by dense woodland, just what we wanted after a hot car journey. We stopped at the local bar in Royere for a cold drink before heading back to Chez Jallot, where our bikes were stored away securely ready for their next adventure. We spent five days exploring the local area by bike, some days it was just a short ride out for coffee or over to the lake for a swim and others took us farther afield and gave us the opportunity to sample a few lunch spots. Anthony and Heidi were more than happy to share their knowledge of the area with us each evening when we shared a tasty supper with them and discussed our plans for the following day. The combination of an idyllic cycling location and bike friendly hosts made for a very relaxing break with our bikes, we plan to return."

Women's Tour De France 2025
Stage 5
Chasseneuil-du-Poitou > Guéret (166 km)

The longest stage of this fourth edition promises to be lively. It is without major difficulty in its
first 100 kilometers but its last third is very hilly: on small roads conducive to attacks, the peloton will have to cross three hills including the Maupuy (2.8 km at 5.4%) before reaching Guéret.
